Cable Spooling, Testing & Refurbishment Services
All services are performed at our facility in the Federal Territory of Labuan under documented work procedures, using calibrated equipment, and delivered with formal test data and condition reporting. Requirements outside the scope described below may be discussed directly with our technical team
Core Services
• EMC Cable Spooling & Re-Torque. Precision spooling to manufacturer specification on our spooling unit, with controlled tension and torque profiling. [Capacity: line sizes to smallest 0.219" to 0.490", drum width – from Slickline CH – Wireline OH with chain driven, utilizes a 36" Capstan drum to establish correct tension profiles, offering a nominal tension rating of 8,000 lbs and maximum capacities reaching 10,000 lbs, and cable length up to 28000ft]
• Cable Diagnostics & Electrical Testing. Insulation resistance, continuity, and conductor integrity testing using calibrated instrumentation, with documented results and trend analysis on every assignment.
• Drum Inspection & Refurbishment. Visual and non-destructive examination, mechanical refurbishment, and formal fitness-for-service reporting.
• Well Intervention Technical Support. Slickline and Wireline operational support delivered by senior personnel with more than 20 years of combined regional field experience.
EMC Cable Spooling & Re-Torque
Correct spooling practice is fundamental to cable asset integrity. Uneven tension distribution induces crush damage in lower wraps, torque imbalance accelerates armour degradation. Both typically manifest downhole, where the consequences are most severe.
Scope of service
• Spooling and re-spooling to manufacturer specification
• Controlled tension and torque profiling across the full drum
• Cable transfer between drums
• Line sizes: e.g. 7/32 in., 5/16 in, slickline, monoconductor and multi-conductor }
• Equipment: spooling unit 36" Capstan
Quality controls
Work performed to a controlled procedure, line tension measured on calibrated load instrumentation, spooling parameters recorded and retained.
Deliverables
Spooling record with tension data, post-service inspection summary
Cable Diagnostics & Electrical Testing
Cable condition management requires measured data, not qualitative assessment. Our testing regime provides operators and contractors with a quantified basis for run/no-run decisions and lifecycle planning.
Scope of service
-
Cable preservation treatment (bio-grease application) — application of biodegradable cable grease for corrosion protection and to maintain sealing integrity during pressurised operations
- Wire ductility assessment (WDAD) — mechanical ductility testing to verify wire condition and remaining service life
- Cable brushing and cleaning — mechanical removal of debris, scale, and residual well fluids prior to inspection and treatment
- Insulation resistance (IR) testing — performed on calibrated instrumentation, with results recorded against acceptance criteria
- Conductor continuity and resistance measurement
- Cable diameter verification — outer-diameter measurement along the working length, verifying compliance with flow tube and pressure-control equipment tolerances
- Flow tube inspection and bore verification — dimensional check of flow tubes against cable OD for pressure-control operations
- Trend documentation — all readings logged against historical data to support condition monitoring and lifecycle planning
- Pre-mobilisation fitness assessment — consolidated review and fitness-for-service statement prior to campaign deployment
Quality controls
All electrical test instruments held under a calibration programme with certificates traceable to national standards, instrument identification and calibration status recorded on every test report.
Deliverables
Formal test report with pass/fail assessment, trend analysis, and engineering recommendations, documentation suitable for submission to end clients and audit review.
Drum Inspection & Refurbishment
Drum integrity is integral to cable asset integrity. Our inspection and refurbishment service ensures that drums remain fit for service and compliant with handling and lifting requirements.
Scope of service
• Visual and dimensional inspection
• Non-destructive examination [methods: MPI ]
• Flange, barrel, and shaft condition assessment
Quality controls
NDT performed by approved certified vendor to written technique reports, consumables batch-recorded, acceptance criteria stated on every report.
Deliverables
Inspection report with photographic record, findings, and fitness-for-service statement with Digital QR code.
Well Intervention Technical Support
